Muaro Jambi – Hermanto (40), a fish farmer, was found dead after drowning due to electric shock in the Batanghari River, Muarojambi Regency. The incident occurred when he was repairing the lights of his fish cage. A joint search and rescue (SAR) team successfully located the victim at approximately 5:00 PM local time on Monday (June 19, 2023), according to Lutfi, the Head of Public Relations at the Jambi National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas).
Lutfi stated that the victim was found approximately 6 meters away from the incident location. “The victim was found lifeless. Currently, the body has been evacuated to the funeral home,” he said.
Prior to the incident, a fish farmer from Pematang Jering Village in Muarojambi Regency, Jambi, was reported to have drowned in the Batanghari River. It is suspected that the victim suffered electric shock while repairing the lights of his fish cage, resulting in him falling into the river.
Following the victim’s evacuation, the joint SAR team concluded the search operation, and all units returned to their respective bases.(*)
